Solar Powered Attic - Vent Fans
| The Home Ventilating Institute (www.hvi.org) recommends that powered attic ventilators provide at minimum 10 attic air volume changes per hour. To calculate the recommend amount of ventilation for your home, simply multiply the total square footage of your attic space by 0.70 as indicated in the table below, or use the Ventilation Requirements Calculator for a more accurate determination of ventilation needs. For particularly dark (black shingles) or steep roofs, HVI recommends multiplying by a factor of 0.80 to calculate your ventilation requirements. See the chart below for examples: |

Additionally, HVI recommends a minimum air inlet area of 144 square inches per every 300 CFM of ventilator capacity. For Attic Breeze vents, we choose to exceed this standard and recommend a minimum outside air inlet area of more than twice that of HVI, or about 1600 square inches per a vent unit. We have found that additional air inlet area provides for better performance and reduces the risk of attic depressurization. Our outside air inlet area recommendation translates to approximately 12-13 standard size (16"x8") soffit vents per each solar attic vent. This equals 128 square inches per soffit vent. If you have gable vents, measure for the square inches and see how much more air inlets you will need to add, if any. |

Thermal Switch. Attic Breeze solar attic vents ship standard with a thermal switch included to control the operation of the vent based on the temperature of the attic. The thermal switch minimizes attic heat loss during colder months and extends the run life of the unit. Removal of the thermal switch allows the solar attic fan to be operated continuously, where attic temperature does not control fan operation. This option is recommended for customers in colder climates who may have a need for removing attic moisture during winter months. |

Attic Breeze solar attic vents featuring remote mounted solar panels ships with a standard low profile solar panel mounting bracket. These brackets are not adjustable for the angle or direction of the solar panel and can only be mounted onto your roof. Our Universal Mounting Bracket option allows for several different mounting options and gives full directional and inclination adjustability of the remotely mounted solar panel. | ** Warranty Info: Attic Breeze warrants the attic vent housing for durability for a period of twenty (20) years from the date of purchase. Additionally, Attic Breeze warrants 90% of the minimum rated power for the solar panel for a period of ten (10) years from the date of purchase. Attic Breeze warrants all other parts, including fan motor, for a period of five (5) years from date of purchase. Product performance in compliance with the terms of the above limited warranties shall be determined by Attic Breeze upon claim of non-conformance of product. Defects in materials or workmanship shall be repaired or replaced at the full discretion of Attic Breeze. The limited warranties described above do not cover the misuse, neglect, abuse, alteration, exposure to extreme weather conditions, exposure to lightning strikes or damage caused by transportation of purchased products. All claims require issuance of a Return Authorization Number which can be obtained from our office prior to returning any merchandise. Attic Breeze explicitly does not warrant any labor or service fees incurred for the replacement or exchange of any product or replacement parts claimed under the terms and conditions of the above limited warranties.
